چکیده

Abstract: Introduction: Diabetes is a worldwide pandemic disease with an expensive way of control. Locals around the world have been used botanical extracts to reduce effects this deadly improve quality life patients. Objectives: To evaluate crude ethnobotanical species K. daigremontiana on hyperglycemia rat model support its antidiabetic use in traditional medicine. Materials and Methods: Crude leaves extract were daily administered per os Wistar rats for six months. Hyperglycemic induction was rich-sucrose diets. Six animals group used: i) standard diet, ii) sucrose-rich iii) diet + (1 ml), iv) (2 ml) v) ml). All sacrificed liver prepared histopathological analysis. Powdered functionally characterized analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Results: Treatment 2 ml caused least tissue damage, compared A high antioxidant activity (DPPH: 111.14 μM Trolox equivalents g-1 dry weight (DW); ABTS: 223.90 DW) observed. content 0.54 mg ascorbic acid DW, total phenol 17.45 gallic DW flavonoid 2.3 equivalent quercetin determined. No conclusive evidence molecules present obtained FTIR Conclusion: The dosages Kalanchoe reduces damage under sucrose conditions. Key words: Traditional medicine, Anti-hyperglycemic, Sucrose-rich daigremontiana, Phytotherapy.

Analysis of gene expression in Kalanchoe daigremontiana leaves during plantlet formation under drought stress

Background: Kalanchoe daigremontiana is an attractive model system for the study of the molecular mechanisms of somatic embryogenesis and organogenesis competence due to its formation of plantlets with adventitious roots on the leaf margins that are derived from somatic embryos. The suppression subtractive hybridization technique was used to investigate gene expression during asexual reproducti...

New Bufadienolides Isolated from the Roots of Kalanchoe daigremontiana (Crassulaceae).

An aqueous extract from the roots of Kalanchoe daigremontiana turned out to be a rich source of bufadienolides. The existing literature data relate mainly to the aerial parts of Kalanchoe but there is no information about the metabolic profile of the roots, which are also used in traditional medicine. Our investigation concerning the roots of K. daigremontiana led to the isolation and character...

Effects of Infantile Repeated Hyperglycemia on Neuronal Density of Hippocampus and Pentylentetrazol Induced Convulsions in Male Wistar Rats

Objective(s) High blood glucose induces molecular, cellular, morphological and behavioral changes in the brain. Metabolic disturbances, contribute to the hippocampus injury and development of partial focal seizures. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of infantile repeated hyperglycemia on neuronal density of hippocampal CA3region in newborn Wistar male rats and its effect on ...

Biochemical and Histopathological Effects of Acute Exposure to Vinyl Acetate Monomer Vapour in Wistar Rats

Background: Vinyl acetate monomer is a commodity chemical widely used in the manufacturing of various products. The chemical is hazardous and exposure to it may occur in both occupational and non-occupational settings. The aim of this study was to characterize the effects of short-term exposure to Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) vapour on the liver and lungs of Wistar rats. Methods: Mice weighing ...

Enzyme Regulation in Crassulacean Acid Metabolism Photosynthesis : Studies on Thioredoxin-Linked Enzymes of KalanchoE daigremontiana.

Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase) and sedoheptulose-1,7-bisphosphatase (SBPase) were identified and purified from the Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) plant, Kalanchoë daigremontiana. FBPase and SBPase showed respective molecular weights of 180,000 and 76,000, and exhibited immunological cross-reactivity with their counterparts from chloroplasts of C(3) (spinach) and C(4) (corn) plants. Ba...
